Are you taking time out of your day to set yourself up for success? If you feel anxious or are experienced high levels of stress at work or school then you may want to consider taking up the practice of mindfulness. This includes the practice of setting daily intentions or positive affirmations which is a yogic practice that helps to create inner calm. The main focus of mindfulness is to make the self aware of the present moment. In order to practice this we must focus on our breathe and judge the thoughts that come into our minds for what they are, then just as quickly we should label the thoughts and let them slip away. This is a meditative practice that takes time to master.

I make it a habit to wake up an extra half hour early each day in order to take the time to practice yoga and meditation. This is when I set my daily intentions. You may want to start your practice by focusing on the six examples of affirmations that are included in the graphic above. I also spend time in the car during my commute to work on creating inner calm and reaffirming my intention for the day. During the day if things seem to become stressful just take a deep breath, take a step back and remind yourself of your intention. This is a process that takes time and practice to master, but the rewards are amazing.
